NMM Works is an independent software company. We explore recurring needs in everyday work, check how software can help, and develop products around them.
What we look for
Three signals guide what we build.
We check for all three before we begin developing a product.
The three signals
- A need arising in the same situation recurs months apart.
- Someone has already built a workaround by hand: a spreadsheet, a note, a habit nobody wrote down.
- The information needed is spread across several tools, with content or formats that do not match.
What happens next
When all three signals are present, we explore how software could help. Otherwise, we record the need for further observation.
From a real need to useful software
We move from observation to validation, development and preparation for release.
- Discover a need
We start with recurring needs in our own work, where we can observe the context and how people handle them.
- Check its usefulness
We try a small prototype in real work to check whether software helps before committing to product development.
- Develop reviewable code and documentation
We develop code and documentation that other people can read, test and review.
- Prepare for release and independent review
Before a general release, we complete the work on security, privacy, and reliability. Someone other than the author reviews that work before the service is released beyond the invited beta.
How we describe our work
We distinguish what exists, what is being built, and what still needs validation so readers can assess the work clearly.
- We label what is built and what is only planned separately, wherever this site describes a project
- We do not connect a data source until we have looked at exactly what it holds and why we need it
- Every project carries a stage badge that states its current stage plainly

Tritlas is the product we are developing from this approach.
